Hearn calls on Irish fight fans to paint London green for Taylor

Eddie Hearn wants the Irish fans to prove that they are indeed the best fans in the World.

The Matchroom Promoter is calling for a Conor McGregor-style invasion of Wembley Arena on November 26th when Katie Taylor makes her pro debut.

Taylor will trade leather for the first time since signing with Matchroom on the aforementioned date and Hearn wants London to be painted green, much like it was during the Bray woman’s Olypic gold medal-winning run in 2012.

“I want to see thousands of Irish fans in the UK and the wonderful travelling fans in Ireland to come and give Katie their backing in her first few professional fights because this is going to be an exciting ride,” Hearn told the Irish Independent.

“The Irish people love Katie and rightly so as she has been a wonderful ambassador for your country, but I am hoping that her talents appeal to a wide audience in the UK and beyond and we are about to find out of that is the case.”

“I want to see the Irish flags there and the fans cheering her on as only they can. You see what the Irish soccer fans are like and they are the best in the world.”

“Then you look at the green invasion when Conor McGregor fights in Las Vegas and we want Katie’s fights to replicate those scenes.”

With two shows on these shores last week and some big away nights early in the new year, November 26th may prove too short notice for some of the Taylor faithful. However, Hearn, who has always shown Irish fight fan love, has plans to bring one of the countries sporting heroes home and has revealed plans to stage a Taylor World title fight in Ireland in 2017.

“If this goes as I think it will, we believe that in three or four fights, we could look at getting Katie into the mix for a world title fight and that would have to be staged in Ireland.”
