Greenblood confirm Nevin will make eagerly awaited return this Saturday night
JOHN JOE Nevin will return to the ring just six months after suffering a double break this coming Saturday.
Tom Moran of Greenblood, Nevin’s management company, confirmed the Olympic hero impressed so much in sparring over the last few weeks that they were persuaded to get him a fight.
Nevin, who debuted over six rounds in March, will compete in a four round contest and ‘get his feet wet’ again at the House of Dreams in North Carolina.
The Mullingar man’s return takes place on the a card that will also include Tyrone McKenna and Ray Ginley,
“We decided after how good John Joe looked sparring against top class guys in Philly that we he was ready for a ‘normal’ fight. It will be against an average opponent, just somebody to let him get the fight day feeling back,” Moran told Irish-boxing.com.
“The other GreenBlood boxers, Ray Ginley and Tyrone McKenna, were scheduled to fight tune-up fights in North Carolina and John Joe really wanted to get back as well. So we said if he looked good boxing in Philly we would know he was ready, and he looked special. This is a chance for him to get his feet wet, get back into the ring and work his craft.”
