Great news for Irish boxers and Irish boxing fans
In what is brilliant news for the profile of Irish boxers and the enjoyment of Irish boxing fans, eir Sport confirmed yesterday details of the addition of dedicated boxing channel, BoxNation, to the eir Sport pack.
From Thursday March 9th, BoxNation will be available to all eir Sport pack customers on eir Vision and the eir Sport App.
eir Sport pack customers on Sky have access to the channel with immediate effect (channel 438).
Modern Irish boxing legend Bernard Dunne helped announce the news yesterday afternoon at the National Stadium in Dublin, where he caught up with The Irish Boxing Show. This interview can be heard on Episode 3 which is scheduled for release next week.
The addition of BoxNation to the eir Sport pack comes just in time for the big show in Belfast next Friday [March 10th] hich is scheduled to feature Jamie Conlan, Paddy Barnes, Marco McCullough, Steven Ward, Lewis Crocker, Joe Fitzpatrick, Phil Sutcliffe, and the all-Irish clashes between James Tennyson and Declan Geraghty, and Tyrone McKenna and Jake Hanney.
In addition to this there are also big fights on the horizon for Phil Sutcliffe against Josh Leather, and Marco McCullough against Ryan Walsh for the British title, not to mention that Mick Conlan’s debut on St Patrick’s Day is also rumoured to feature on the channel.
“This announcement further demonstrates eir Sport’s commitment to increasing the breadth of live sports on our pack strengthening our position as Ireland’s number one sports broadcaster,” Glen Killane, MD of eir TV and Sport, said.
Between BoxNation’s link-up with BT Sport last year, and this link-up here, the niche channel has opened itself up to an increasingly large number of potential viewers and this can only be good for all involved.
