Godlen Boy Quigley: I followed my heart and now I am ready to start journey toward World titles
GOLDEN Boy’s latest recruit Jason Quigley says he has followed his heart by turning pro.
Quigley was touted as a potential Olympic medal winner for Ireland and looked like one of the countries major RIO 2016 hopes.
The 22 year old middleweight had discussed the Olympics in positive fashion in recent months, but the World Championships silver medal winner indicated the chance to become World pro champion was tugging at his heart strings.
It seems the lure of the bright lights and the pro ranks proved too attractive and the middleweight prospect expressed his delight after signing with Oscar De La Hoya and co at Golden Boy.
“I’m really, really excited,” Quigley told Sky Sports. “I’ve been contemplating whether to make this move or not, but I’ve gone with this feeling in my heart that I have the excitement and hunger to go on and fulfill my childhood dreams of becoming a world professional champion.”
