Geraghty: I will prove I am the best lightweight in Ireland this year

“Eh? It’s a DQ more than a loss,” Declan Geraghty reminds this reporter when the Jono Carroll reverse is mentioned.

Not that the Dubliner is disparaging of ‘King Kong’ in fact he has been full of praise for the Prizefighter winner since their BUI Fight of the Year last November.

Rather Geraghty mentions that he was disqualified not beaten to point out neither confidence of plans for a big 2015 have been derailed.

“At the end of the day I was was wining the fight,” he adds.

It wouldn’t take more than the real King Kong to shake the confidence of the two weight Senior Champion, but with his last bout being technically being a loss he is eager to experience that winning feeling and regain the forward momentum he picked up last year.

He has been presented with the opportunity to return to winning ways this coming Friday night when he returns to Villa Park to fight Ibrar Riyaz. ‘Pretty Boy’ plans to put on a show against the journey man tomorrow night before going on to prove he is the best lightweight in Ireland in 2015.

“I’m always motivated for any fight, but I can’t wait to get back into the ring and and what l do best on Friday night.”

“2015 is a big year for me. I’ll prove that I am the best in Ireland at my weight this year. “We are planing big things for the next 12 months, so I have to get myself of to a wining start this Friday. It’s a 6 rounder and I will out class this fella and win all 6 rounds. I’m 110% in the right frame of mind and ready for a big year.”
