Geraghty takes count but bounces back to win in Liverpool

Declan Geraghty ground out a tough win this evening via disqualification in Liverpool.

The Dublin super featherweight fought former Nicaraguan champ Eusebio Osejo on the Liam Smith World title undercard in the Echo Arena.

However, ‘Pretty Boy’ certainly was made to work hard for the win, including taking a count from the ref.

Geraghty shipped some punishment early and was forced into a standing eight count at the end of the second stanza. Nevertheless, the MGM southpaw slickster dug deep to claw his way back on top.

The bout came to an end in the final minute of the sixth and final round with the Central American, who had been given a points deduction in the fifth, being disqualified by the referee John Latham for ‘persistent fouling’ in the form of low-blows.

With the victory, Geraghty moves to 12(3)-1(0), while the rough and tough Osejo drops to 28(8)-17(5)-2.
