Gavin hugely confident of defeating Eggington – eyes big fights
Frankie Gavin has labelled Sam Eggington “technically poor” ahead of their cross-city clash next month.
Former Irish champion Gavin takes on Birmingham rival Eggington at the Barclaycard Arena on Saturday October 22nd.
The Sky Sports headline bout has been over a year in the making, with injuries, losses, and outside of the ring issues delaying it, but the showdown was finally confirmed this week.
The Brummie derby is one which Gavin is hugely confident of winning. The World amateur champion cites his superior skill and described how “it’s going to be a great fight, and one I’ll win well because the minute he gets in with a mover he struggles.”
“We know Sam can punch and he’s game.”
“Sam’s a tough kid but boxing-wise he is technically poor. I’m very confident ahead of that fight.”
“This is going to be a massive fight.”
The bout represents something of a do-or-die affair for former World title challenger Gavin who is looking to use a win in five weeks time as a springboard to bigger fights. He explained that “once I beat Sam, I just want the big fights, that’s the stage of my career I’m at.”
