Future Joe Ward foe? Two time National Elite finalist registers second KO win in Hell’s Kitchen
Matthew Tinker [2(2)-0] made it back to back knockout wins with victory in New York over the weekend.
The former St Francis amateur debuted in New York as recent as xx – and stopped Shawn Nelson in his first paid bow.
He was out again in Hell’s Kitchen last Friday on a Lou DiBella and Chris Algiers ‘Fight Night Terminal 5’ card last Friday and put in a similar display.
This time the 28-year-old southpaw took out California native Dylan Bryson to impress a sizable following.
Tinker is a two time National Elite Championship finalist. The former St Francis BC fighter competed at light heavyweight in the tail end of his amateur days in Ireland, but was last seen in the ring as a heavyweight.
The now New York based puncher reached the finals of the final 2018 New York Golden Gloves, competing in the heavyweight class.
The Scarborough born fighter has also had amateur success in England winning the London and Southern Area titles in 2015, Haringey Box Cup gold in 2014 and he was a Junior ABA champion.
The 27-year-old was Senior Elite Irish Finalist at 81kg in 2014 and 2015 where he lost to decorated due Joe Ward – who himself has just turned over and will fight out of America – and Roy Sheehan.
Irish-boxing.com believes those who are guiding his career are hoping to one day match Tinker with former foe Ward, who is now fighting under Lou DiBella and Murphys Boxing banners.
