Furious McGregor slams Showtime for mic cut during Mayweather press conference
The first stop of the Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor press tour took place last night in Los Angeles to hype their mega-money clash next month.
The Dublin debutant takes on the five-weight boxing champ in a light middleweight contest at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday August 26th, and the pair came face to face for the very first time last night at the Staples Centre.
A press conference which most saw as being relatively even, with both fighters having a turn at throwing verbal jabs from the podium, the aftermath of the meeting saw controversy arise.
McGregor was first on the mic and noted that he did not know beforehand that he was required to do a speech, instead expecting a more back-and-forth press conference like in the UFC.
The Crumlin mixed martial artist would then begin to interject when ‘Money Mayweather’s’ time at the stump began. However, the Irishman’s mic would soon be cut, with McGregor visibly responding to Mayweather’s barbs but a lack of sound being heard.

‘The Notorious’ would address the issues in the post-presser media scrum and confirmed that “yeah, they took the mic off.”
“Look, f*ck them. F*ck Showtime. F*ck them all. They can do nothing after August 26th.”
“They can try and do all these tricks all they want. August 26th, this man will be unconscious. He’s too small, he’s too frail. That’s it. What more can I say?”
The pair reconvene for the second of four press conferences tonight in Toronto, and expect McGregor to perhaps have some new tactics to circumnavigate the restrictions that have been placed upon him.
