At Banks’s Stadium in Walsall, Navan super middleweight Chris Blaney scored a comprehensive four-round points (40-36) win over Kirill Psonko in a short notice bout. The Ginger Ninja stretched his record to 2(2)-0 and will be in action again in Stoke on October 1st.
Just under two hours up the road in Manchester there were two wins from two for Wild Geese at the Bowels Exhibition Centre. Irish Tommy Carter grabbed his first professional win with a hard-fought victory over debutant Nick Golubs. The middleweight of Drogheda descent now sits at 1(0)-1(0).
Matty Mainwaring, former Irish underage international footballer and the man who defeated Tommy Carter in their previous bout, also had a win on the same Kieran Farrell-promoted card. The 26 year old had a four-round points victory over the always-tough Liam Griffiths to move to 3(0)-0.
Across the Pennines in Leeds there were distance defeats for Ulster journeymen Casey Blair and Jamesy Gorman against Steven Mennell and Lee McGhie respectively.
