Frampton: I will be the bigger man come fight night
Carl Frampton predicts that he will be the bigger man in the ring at the Barclays Centre on Saturday night.
‘The Jackal’ takes on WBA featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz live on Boxnation and Showtime, and believes that he will be the physically stronger man come fight night.
Frampton is stepping up four pounds from super bantamweight for the clash, but feels that this will be more of a benefit than a hindrance when he takes on ‘El Terremoto,’ who holds a 2inch height and 7inch reach advantage over the Belfast man.
Explaining the rationale behind his claim, Frampton noted how “People forget that he started his career at bantamweight while I fought as a featherweight in the amateurs.”
“On the night, I’ll be the bigger man and that will be the difference.”
“I think on fight night I’m going to be stronger.”
While he may be stronger, he certainly wont be longer, but the Tigers Bay 29 year old is unconcerned, and reasoned that “I’ve dealt with fighting bigger guys throughout my whole career.”
“I’m used to it. I’ve fought bigger guys than Santa Cruz.”
“I’m feeling strong mentally and physically. I feel like my stamina level has increased with the new weight. I’m eating well and enjoying myself.”
