Frampton v Santa Cruz II – Punch Stats

Leo Santa Cruz landed almost 100 punches more than Carl Frampton during ther WBA featherweight title fight last night in Las Vegas.

The Mexican-American reclaimed the title via majority decision (114:114, 115:113 x2) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and, according to punch stats, Santa Cruz landed 230 punches to Frampton’s 133.

Santa Cruz’s more tentative approach is reflected in how he threw, a still very impressive, 884 punches, landing with 26%down from 1002 (25.5%).

Frampton too threw less than in the first fight, firing off 592 shots, down from 668, and landing 133, to give him a connection percentage of 22.5%.

Santa Cruz landed the greater number of punches in each and every round according to the stats.

In terms of power punches the pair were relatively close with Santa Cruz throwing 467 to Frampton’s 405, however ‘El Terremoto’ landed 149 (31.9%) to ‘The Jackal’s’ 105 (25.9%).
