Frampton rewards Olympian Donnelly with Golden Ticket

It has been a life-changing week for Ballymena welterweight Steven Donnelly who became Ireland’s fourth boxer to qualify for next year’s Olympics in Rio in what were truly bizarre circumstances.

Following this news, Belfast’s World champion Carl Frampton provided the perfect cherry on top for Donnelly – tickets to Frampton-Quigg on February 27th.

Speaking to irish-boxing.com, Donnelly told us that, following news of his qualification, “the main man Frampton wished me well on Twitter and told me he would keep me back 2 tickets for me and my girlfriend Sarah Louise.”

The Commonwealth Games bronze medalist had high praise for the IBF super bantamweight champ, both as a person and as a boxer, reasoning that “he knew we had flights and accommodation sorted, so fair play to Carl.”

“And now we will be there to see him beat up Quigg!”

Tickets for the showdown at the Manchester Arena have been like gold dust, selling out in seconds and leaving thousands of fans of ‘The Jackal’ disappointed.
