Frampton reveals possible Santa Cruz dates and venues
Carl Frampton is confident a massive fight with Leo Santa Cruz can be made.
Showtime claimed earlier this month an agreement in principle had been made between the Belfast star and the Mexican, but the IBF claimed they had no reason to believe the WBA and IBF super bantamweight World champion wouldn’t defend against Shingo Wake next.
However, ‘The Jackal’ confirmed talks are on going with Santa Cruz, who like Frampton has Al Haymon and PBC links. Indeed the undefeated 29 year old is hopeful of challenging for the WBA featherweight World title by the end of the Summer.
“They’re talking about the end of July or August if it gets done, so hopefully it does. I’m confident enough that it’ll get made,” Frampton told the Irish News.
The first ever Irish unified World champion was hopeful of a home coming after defeating Scott Quigg in a massive PPV clash in February, but believes he will have to travel to get big name fight.
“I doubt it will be here, it’ll be America – it would be good to be on the east coast, but it might be in Vegas, who knows?”
