Frampton reveals likely venue for potential Santa Cruz rematch
A rematch with Leo Santa Cruz looks next on the cards for two weight World Champion Carl Frampton.
‘The Jackal’ dethroned the three weight World champ in New York in July and both seem keen on a repeat.
The pair and their teams will sit down in the coming weeks to try and make a deal.
The Belfast fighter had originally said he would love to bring the fight and the glare of the World to his home city, but accepts he may have to travel in America for the second installment.
Santa Cruz would prefer on the West Coast suggesting going as far to suggest the Cyclone Promotions fighter had home advantages on the East Coast.
Frampton on the hand is confident of victory regardless of venue.
“It is the fight people are talking about and potentially it is going to be the next one for me. There is to be a meeting next week,” said Frampton.
“Santa Cruz is the fight I am keen for and I feel I can beat him anywhere in the world.”
“America is the most likely destination,” he said.
“If it had been the summer we could have done outdoors in Belfast, but Windsor Park in December is not going to work.”
The undefeated two weight World champ hopes the rematch takes place before the year is out as he wants to have a Christmas at home.
“I would like to have the fight before Christmas because I have not had Christmas off since I turned pro and I would like to spend it with my kids.”
