Frampton opponent changed

2 March 2011

Carl Frampton’s opponent on the undercard of Gary Sykes British title defence against Paul Truscott on March 5 has been changed to Venezuelian Oscar Chacin.

The Celtic super-bantamweight Champion had been scheduled down to face former EBA challenger Alexander Vladimirov(9-4-1) but will now face 32-year-old Chacin – who in the past year has fallen short to Kiko Martinez and Alexi Collado (Acosta).

Former European champion Martinez defeated Chacin via a unanimous decision in Spain in November, whilst Cork based Cuban Collado stopped Chacin in six rounds in Dublin in 2009.

As such, the bout marks an interesting marker of where the unbeaten Frampton is at this point in his career.
