Frampton: His fans are different to my fans. Boxing fans versus Football fans?
It’s been built as fight between two world class fighters with world class support.
There is no escaping the fact Carl Frampton and Josh Warrington are two of the best supported fighter in world boxing.
Both have proven their popularity by selling out stadiums in their last fights, while Frampton is at this present moment possibly the biggest name in Belfast sport.
However, while they may match up in terms numbers and volume on any given fight night ‘The Jackal’ has been keen to point out there is a difference between the different followings.
The fans have become a real narrative to the build up to the December 22 world title fight with Frampton yesterday labeling some of the abuse sent the way of Lee Selby by some of his next opponents following ‘disgraceful’.
After the second leg of the press tour in Leeds today the former unified and two weight world champion was keen to point out the difference between the set of fans- and by saying his support was different he was implying it’s better.
Maybe not better in terms of the partisan support they give their fighters or in terms of the number of tickets they sell, but more respectful to fighters and the game itself.
