Four Irish fighters fighting for European medals on Wednesday

August 11th – Four Irish boxers will be in action in the quarter-finals of the EUBC European Elite Championships in Samokov, Bulgaria tomorrow.

Michael Conlan, Dean Walsh, Adam Nolan and Joe Ward will be aiming to claim at least a bronze medal each and secure outright qualification for October’s AIBA World Elite Championships in Doha, Qatar.

The 2015 AIBA World Elite Championships is the first AIBA Open Boxing (AOB), formerly amateur boxing, qualifier for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Ward and Nolan advanced to Wednesday’s last-eight bouts at the European Elite Championships following victories in Samokov today, with London 2012 Olympian Nolan beating the No. 1 seed in the 69kg class. Click here.
