First round stoppage for Ray Moylette on Murphys Boxing card
Ray Moylette scored the first knockout of his pro career tonight in America.
The Mayo star was fighting on a Murphys Boxing card at the Plainridge Casino in Plainville, Massachusetts, and scored a first round stoppage against Oscar Diaz, with his opponent pulling out following three minutes of punishment.
Moylette had weighed in at 139lbs for the fight as he begins his move down to lightweight. Diaz on the other hand came in almost ten pounds heavier, however the Islandeady fighter would drop and stop the journeyman in the first.
Immediately stalking his local southpaw opponent from the off, Moylette would patiently wait for his opportunity and had Diaz down in the final thirty of the opening stanza.
A big bodyshot would see Diaz buckle at the knees and spit out his mouthpiece, and the journeyman was soon down once the action reconvened. Diaz beat the count and was saved by the bell, but the bout would be call off when the pair returned to their respective corners
The maiden stoppage win sees Moylette move to 3(1)-0, while Diaz drops to 0-12(8)
Next up for ‘Sting Ray’ is another four rounder next Saturday at the Melrose Memorial Hall before an Irish homecoming at the National Stadium on June 24th.
