First fighters announced for Mick Conlan Chicago undercard

Next month Mick Conlan [1(1)-0] will continue his tour around the Irish hubs of America with a fight date in Chicago.

The Belfast super bantam will headline at the UIC Pavilion on Friday May 26th, live again on UniMas.

Two fighter have been so far listed for the undercard at the 9,500 seater arena on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus.

Young welterweight Alex Saucedo [24(15)-0] will box over eight rounds on the card in The Windy Cindy. The 22 year old may be familiar to Irish boxing fans as he featured on the undercard of Conlan’s debut last month, scoring an impressive second round stoppage over Johnny Garcia.

Another welterweight is also on the card in the form of former world title challenger Mike Alvarado [36(24)-4(3)]. The Colorado boxer was stopped in the tenth round by Ruslan Provodnikov in a WBO light welterweight title fight in 2013. Alvarado would subsequently face Juan Manuel Marquez and lose on points, knocking the Mexican legend down in the third round in the process.

‘Mile High’ also has wins over the likes of Breidis Prescott and Mauricio Herrerra, as well as losing two and winning one fight in a trilogy with Brandon Rios.

More additions to this undercard are expected soon.

Conlan’s monster debut at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York on St Patrick’s Day featured one Irish fighter on the undercard, Monaghan welterweight Larry Fryers.
