First fighter confirmed for Burnett Belfast World Title undercard
The first fighter has been confirmed for the undercard to Ryan Burnett’s Word title challenge in Belfast this Summer.
Burnett takes on IBF bantamweight titlist Lee Haskins at the SSE Odyssey Arena on Saturday June 10th where he will be supported by Paul Hyland Jr [15(5)-0].
Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn confirmed on social media this evening that the Lagmore lightweight will feature on the bill alongside a host of fighters which will be announced next Wednesday at the official press conference in Belfast.
Hylo boxed on the inaugural Matchroom NXTGEN bill last month, scoring an entertaining, career-best points win over Peter Cope at the York Hall in an eight rounder.
The undefeated Ulsterman is title hungry, and will be hoping to move closer to, if not claim, a domestic belt in just over six weeks time.
The Irish title route has proved unfruitful in recent times for crowd-pleaser Hyland, with a proposed bout with Galway’s Gearoid Clancy not being sanctioned. The British title was won earlier this month by Robbie Barrett which could b a possibility – however Hyland has not yet fought any eliminators for the belt.
Sean Dodd won the Commonwealth title just last week, while Charlie Flynn and Ryan Collins boxed for the BBBoC Celtic title in Glasgow earlier this month, with an accidental cut suffered by Flynn resulting in a technical draw. This Celtic belt is therefore vacant, as is the BBBoC Northern Ireland Area title, while a standard British title eliminator is also possible.
