Fighter with plenty of Irish previous confirmed for Stephen Carroll
Stephen ‘Shorty’ Carroll takes on a foe that will be familiar to Irish fight fans at the Red Cow on Friday night.
Asen Vasilev (14-33-0) will man the opposite corner when Carroll fights the second time as a pro and returns from a nine month absence.
The Bulgarian has Irish previous dating back as far as 2009 when he was stopped in the fifth round by former Irish Champion Oisin Fagan.
Vasilev was also a victim of Noel O’Brien, Eddie Hyland and, more recently, light middleweight prospect Craig O’Brien.
The experienced journey man has also shared the ring with the likes of former European Champion and Paul McCloskey foe Giuseppe Lauri, as well as Stephen Smith and Matthew Hatton.
The 42 year old shouldn’t cause Carroll too many problems, indeed with the fight scheduled for six the Dublin welterweight is hoping to register a stoppage win.
The weigh in for the November 6th card takes place at the Red Cow on Thursday at 3pm and is open to the public.
