Familiar Féile Foe lined up for Paddy Gallagher
2010 Commonwealth gold medalist Paddy Gallagher [7(4)-2(0)] will seek to measure his progress as a professional when he takes to the ring on August 1st in Belfast at the ‘This Is It – Féile Fight Night’
The welterweight fights in a six round contest against a familiar opponent, with new coach John Breen explaining “Paddy is boxing an old foe of his, William Warburton, whom Paddy beat in his first fight.”
According to the legendary Belfast trainer, the Englishman was keen to renew hostilities with Gallagher – “When asked to take the fight, Warburton jumped at the opportunity to get revenge over Paddy, saying that he is a much improved fighter since that night – but I must say, so is Paddy Gallagher!”
In their first meeting, the Pat-Man secured a 40-37 points victory over the Englishman, and the 26 year old will be looking to make a bigger statement on August 1st against a man who has only been stopped twice in over a hundred professional fights. Breen is very confident ahead of the clash, revealing that “when Warburton’s name was put to me I accepted it right away because I can see Paddy improving every day and you can be assured that William is in for a surprise.”
