Egan shocked by Nevin injury and claims it could prove a major set back
IRISH boxing legend Kenneth Egan claims the people that broke John Joe Nevin’s leg have dealt a major blow to the prospects career.
Just weeks after registering a pro debut win in New York the Olympic medal winner suffered a broken leg after an assault on Sunday morning. The former stand out amatuer and bright pro hope is currently in hospital receiving medical care and fellow Olympic medal winner, Egan claims the injury could prove a major setback for the Green Blood fighter.
“He went to the Olympic Games and got the silver medal. To come home then get his leg broken in some sort of altercations, it is shocking for him. I couldn’t believe it when I heard about it,” a shocked Egan told the Sunday Mirror.
“I’d love to see him getting back into the ring, but it’s just too hard to say yet because it will depend on how bad it is. A broken bone is a broken bone. It will take a while to heal and he won’t be able to train. It is a massive setback in his career because it is only starting. It’s a terrible shame.”
