Eddie Hearn: “O’Sullivan-Eubank Jr fight is very close”

We’re nearly there.

The long anticipated grudge match between Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan and Chris Eubank is finally close to be confirmed.

The middleweight duo have traded insults over the years but never came close to fighting. A deal was offered by Eubank Jr’s old promoter, Frank Warren, earlier this year – but was rejected by Cork’s O’Sullivan for its unacceptable terms.

However, now that Eubank Jr has moved to Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Promotions, the negotiations have cranked up and both parties are close to agreeing terms.

Matchroom head honcho Eddie Hearn confirmed the fruitfulness of negotiations today on Twitter, revealing that the fight is “very close…. pretty much there.”

As previously discussed, the fight looks likely for the Anthony Joshua-Dillian Whyte card in London on December 12th.

O’Sullivan fights in Boston this weekend on a Murphy’s Boxing, Premier Boxing Champions show, while Eubank Jr makes his debut on the undercard of the Kell Brook-Diego Chaves PPV in Sheffield on October 24th.
