Eddie Hearn claims Danny Jacobs v Spike O’Sullivan is “looking doubtful”
Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn has claimed that the seemingly agreed clash between his fighter Danny Jacobs and Cork’s Spike O’Sullivan is in doubt.
Last week O’Sullivan [27(19)-2(1)] stated that, following protracted negotiations, he had agreed to terms to face the two-time world title challenger at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn on Saturday April 28th.
Since this interaction last Wednesday though, talk of the fight has gone quiet.
However, while there had been no official announcement, it was widely assumed that the fight was on and Matchroom were waiting for the Amir Khan-Phil Lo Greco press conference and this weekend’s clash between Lawrence Okolie and Isaac Chamberlain to pass.
Worryingly, Hearn this evening revealed on social media that the fight was “looking doubtful.”

The English promoter did not elaborate on this – only stating that it was “not Spike’s fault.”
I’ll save it for another time but it’s terrible really – not Spikes fault

Neither O’Sullivan, his manager and trainer Paschal Collins, or his promotional backing of Murphys Boxing and Golden Boy have responded to Hearn’s claims.
The 33-year-old Mahon man bludgeoned his way into world contention last month in Montreal where, live on HBO, he upset touted American Antoine Douglas in the seventh round of their chief support bout on the Billy Joe Saunders v David Lemieux WBO middleweight title card.
One month previous, on the same channel, 30-year-old Jacobs [33(29)-2(1)] made his Matchroom USA debut, dominating Luis Arias at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York.
