Dunlop predicting titles for Tyrone McCullagh next year
Tyrone McCullagh [4(3)-0] takes the first real step up of his pro career this weekend at the Europa Hotel.
The Derry fighter takes on Nicaraguan Edwin Tellez [11(5)-25(3)-5] on the MHD Promotions ‘Another Level’ show on Saturday. The durable journeyman who has faced the likes of Josh Warrington, Stephane Jamoye, and Stuart Hall, is indeed another level for ‘White Chocolate’ – as is the step up to six rounds for the first time in his career.
MHD’s Mark Dunlop is delighted to have McCullagh on the Paul Hyland Jr-headlined card, and is predicting big things next year for the former amateur star.
Dunlop reasoned that “with the super bantamweight division limited in numbers at the minute, it would not surprise me to see Tyrone is a major title fight by the end of 2017 should his team keep him busy.”
“He certainly has the amateur pedigree to take a short cut to the top, but he has to deliver at the Europa against a tough opponent.”
McCullagh is joined on the undercard this weekend by Scot Ronnie Clark, Coalisland’s Feargal McCrory, and the Dublin trio of Ian Tims, Jay Byrne, and debutant Carl McDonald.
