Dublin’s Craig O’Brien wins on MGM debut

Slick Dublin light middleweight continued his pro education at the weekend with a comprehensive points victory in Birmigham.

Fighting in the Holte Suite at Villa Park, the MGM fighter won every round against English journeyman Danny Brown in his first outing for the Puerto Banús outfit.

Brown, a southpaw, was a tricky opponent for O’Brien – indeed the Essex boxer’s ring moniker is ‘Bad News’ and he has previously proven to be a banana skin for rising prospects.

However the Dubliner was always a different class and scored a 40-36 points win to claim his third victory of the year.

O’Brien’s ledger now reads 3(0)-0, while Danny Brown’s record falls to 6(0)-22(5).
