Dublin International Round Robin Results – Day 2
An Ireland team, which benefitted from two walkovers, claimed a 4-3 win over France tonight at the National Stadium to bring the curtain down on Day 2 of the Dublin International Round Robin.
Kurt Walker and Patrick Mongan, who beat Russian lightweight Vladimir Nikitin last night, dropped unanimous decisions to Jordan Rodriguez and Rio 2016 silver medallist Sofiane Oumiha.
But Sean McComb recorded his second victory inside 24 hours over Wahlid Hambi at light-welter.
Darren O’Neill bounced back from last night’s narrow reversal – a 3-2 split – to Russian Olympic heavy champion Evgeny Tischenko with a convincing victory over Rio Olympian and European U22 champion Paul Omba Biongolo in the final bout on the card.
Brendan Irvine and Dean Walsh were slated for action tonight but their Russian and French opponents withdrew because of injuries.
Earlier in the day an Italian team defeated Russia 6-5. In this match, Offaly’s Grainne Walsh defeated Italian Assunta Canfora
