Donnelly hoping to continue unbeaten WSB run this weekend

Steven Donnelly will be in action for the Hussars of Poland versus Puerto Rico in Wyszków, Poland this Friday night.

The All Saints BC welter will be looking to improve to three wins against an opponent to be confirmed in the Group B clash.

If the 2014 Irish Elite champion secures a third victory this weekend he could – contingent on results elsewhere – break into the top two or move into joint No. 1 position in the WSB Individual rankings.

The top two ranked welterweights at the end of the regular WSB season in April will qualify for Rio 2016.

Donnelly has chalked up two – here and here – impressive unanimous decisions in the USA and Poland so far this season and has won eight of the ten rounds he has boxed, claiming four rounds in each fight.

The Hussars are lying second from bottom of Group B.

Irish coach Eddie Bolger will be working Donnelly’s corner in Poland on Friday.
