Dominant Conlan scores Chicago KO
Mick Conlan eased to pro win number two tonight in Chicago.
The Belfast super bantam topped a second Top Rank card, this time at the UIC Pavilion, and was utterly dominant against Mexican Alfredo Chanez.
Conlan was brought into the third in his epic debut at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, but noted afterwards how pressure and rust affected his performance against Tim Ibarra.
Another scheduled six rounder would again last three in the Windy City, with Chanez proving an awkward spoiler of an opponent.
Conlan was on top throughout with his rugged foe clinging on following a big uppercut which sent him down in the first.
The Tijuana scrapper used every trick in the book to survive the first and the second, but he Conlan finish the fight in the third round, switching southpaw and scoring a knockdown with a succession of right hooks to the body that had Chanez down and, after unsuccessfully rising at nine, out.
The win sees Conlan move to 2(2)-0, while Chanez falls to 4(2)-5(1).
Next up is a fight on July 2nd at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia, on the Manny Pacquiao v Jeff Horn undercard.
