TJ Doheny retained his PABA super bantamweight title via stoppage win in Australia on Friday morning (Irish time).
The WBA World number 15 made a successful third defence of the continental strap stopping Roman Canto in the eight round of a Ottimo House, Denham Court, New South Wales, Australia.
The win sees Doheny push his record to 8-0 and despite a lack of pro rounds he will be hoping to move his way into title contention over the coming months.
The Oz based Irish pro was already offered a shot at Scott Quigg’s WBA regular title, but declined citing short notice. However, the Portlaoise native told Irish-boxing.com pre Canto win that come the New Year he hopes to be knocking on the big time door.
