Doheny secures top 15 world ranking after just seven fights

LAOIS super bantamweight TJ Doheny is eligible for a World title fight after entering the WBA rankings after just seven fights.

The Australian based fighter has list at 15 in the World in the governing bodies most recent rankings, meaning if he so wished he could challenge former Willie Casey foe Gullerimo Rigondeaux, who is managed by Cork man Gary Hyde, for his WBA world title.

With just seven fights Doheny is far from likely to challenge the Cuban sensation, but he will welcome the ranking and the opportunity to fast track himself up the ladder.

Doheny secured the ranking after buckling the PABA Continental, a strap previously held by former Bernard Dunne defeater Poonsawat, in just his fifth fight and defending it twice.
