TJ Doheny: I’m ready to start mixing it with any World rated contender
PABA super bantamweight title holder TJ Doheny takes on Mongkolchai Lookmuangkanch in New South Wales on Friday evening in his 12th bout as a pro.
The Portlaoise native has consistently impressed in his adopted home of Australia since making his debut in 2012 and now has his sights firmly set on World title glory.
Speaking to Irish-boxing.com ahead of his Friday night bout ‘The Power’ said he expects to put on a show before moving on to bigger fights down the line.
“Camp has gone as well as could be expected. I’ve just come off the back of a big camp and a 12 rounder so I just kept the ball rolling. I had a few days off and I was straight back to the gym so I’m still real sharp and ready put on another clinic Saturday night.”
“I have a major sponsor come on board this year and backing me now which affords me to be able to train full time and focus 100% on my boxing. Its really made a difference and I’m more than ready to start mixing it with any world rated contender in my division. Its only a matter of time until we get a decent name in the opposite corner but for now I’m happy to be kept really active, staying busy in the gym and learning all the time while my team are working on the right move.”
“I owe a lot to my coach Tony Del Vecchio who has bent over back-ways to get me to where I am so far and with my new manager highly touted Mike Altamura come on board this year the sky is the limit.”
“Its great to be fighting alongside my gym mates and its great to see them pushing for titles. With 4 boys on its going to be a busy night for TDV Boxing Gym but also a very successful one.”
