Dennis Hogan overcomes Taiwanese test
Dennis Hogan defended his WBO Oriental light middleweight title this afternoon in Australia.
The Kildare fighter took on the dangerous Yao Yi Ma of Taiwan at the Eatons Hill Hotel in Brisbane, and emerged victorious via technical decision.
Bac in action just two months after winning the regional belt versus Samuel Colomban, the fight was seen as a risky one for Hogan, but the lilywhite scored a relatively comfortable victory.
The bout went to the cards during the eighth round when an accidental head clash left both boxers cut. Hogan was awarded the win, having taken every round on all three cards (70-63 x3).
The win sees Hogan stretch his record to 25(7)-1(0)-1, while Yao Yi Ma drops to 15(10)-2(0).
Pre-fight, Hogan was ranked #11 with the WBO and will hope to now move further up the ladder as he chases a World title shot in the new year.
