Dennis Hogan confirms opponent for next fight
Kildare light middleweight Dennis Hogan [24(7)-1(0)-1] will face Taiwanese opposition in the first defence of his WBO Oriental belt.
The World title-hopeful defends the belt he won last month on November 12th in his adopted home city of Brisbane and will take on Yao Yi Ma [15(10)-1(0)].
Yao Yi Ma is ranked at #5 in the region and previously held the title now in the possession of Hogan as well as the IBF equivalent. The Asian fighter has not fought since last Summer, when he won the WBO Oriental belt which was subsequently stripped due to inactivity. The islander’s only loss came in his third fight where he was outpointed by Tomas Vysokai over ten rounds.
Hogan will be hoping that a win over Yao Yi Ma next month will help push him up the WBO World rankings, where he currently sits at #11.
