Catherine Phiri claims the WBC have ordered Irish interim World champion Christina McMahon to rematch with her.

McMahon out pointed the Zambian fight favourie 95-95, 94-97 and 95-97 in Africa to claim the bantamweight Interim title this year.

The 40 year old returned to a hero’s welcome and has started to get the recognition she has long deserved since.

There was talk of a home defence before trying to go after the regular champion, however Phiri and her team claim a rematch is on the agenda.

There has been no news re a repeat from Team McMahon, but the Zambian, who was undefeated prior to her McMahon bout, claims she is already preparing for the clash.

“I am prepared for her. I know her and how to approach. I am ready to face her. I have already started training for the encounter,” she said.
