Declan Geraghty to make title fight comeback

Declan Geraghty [14(4)-2(1)] will make his return to the ring in just over a months time and will go straight into another title fight.

The Dubliner was stopped in the sixth round of his Irish super featherweight title clash with James Tennyson back in March and will make his comeback one weight below.

The southpaw slickster will fight Scotsman Michael Roberts Jr [19(1)-0-1] over ten rounds on an MTK Scotland show at the Paisley Lagoon Leisure Centre on Saturday July 1st and, pending BBBoC approval, the BBBoC Celtic featherweight title will be on the line.

Roberts had been due to fight another Scot, Stephen Tiffney, for the belt last held by Tennyson, but will now take on Geraghty instead.

Back in November the Glaswegian was due to face Belfast’s Marco McCullough but was a late withdrawal due to illness.

The only blemish on the 30 year old’s record came in October 2015 when he was held to a six-round draw by Nicaraguan Reynaldo Cajina – whom Geraghty would widely outpoint in Dublin the following week.
