An opponent has been confirmed for Steven Ward‘s professional debut on Saturday at the Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games heavyweight silver medalist makes the move down to light heavy for an assault on the pros and will face Bulgarian Merdjidin Yuseinov [7(2)-16(6)-2] in his first paid outing.

‘The Artist’ has fought twice in Britain in the last six months, giving Charlie Quinn a tough debut and being stopped in the third by Charlie Duffield. A pro since 2008, the 31 year old he is five years Ward’s senior and is an experienced first foe for the Ulsterman.

The MGM-managed Ward has relocated to Salford and Oliver Harrison’s gym for his pro career. Saturday’s bout is scheduled for four rounds.

Ward is part of an eleven-fight undercard on the Jamie Conlan-headlined Boxnation bill alongside James Tennsyon, Sean Turner, Con Sheehan, Marco McCullough, Gary Sweeney, Stephen Ormond, Paddy Barnes, Phil Sutcliffe Jr, Declan Geraghty, and the all-Irish battle between Sean Creagh and Tyrone McKenna.
