Dean Walsh comes from behind to progress to the quarters

DEAN Walsh produced a come from behind win to progress to the quarter finals of the European Championships.

Walsh lost the first round in his bout with Russia’s Maxim Dadashev but bounced back to claim a 29-27, 29-27 and 27-30 split decision win.

The current light welterweight champion of Ireland and Olympic hopeful is the eight Irish fighter through to the last 16 of the inaugural competition.

The Wexford man faces Belgian Kastriot Sopa in the quarter final’s on Tuesday.
