1991: David Boy McAuley successfully defended his IBF flyweight title for the fight and final time. The Larne puncher knocked out South African Baby Jake Matlala at the Mayfield Leisure Centre in Belfast with a huge right in the tenth round. 4’10” Matlala won the WBO belt two years later and is the shortest ever World champion. The popular African passed away in 2013 at the age of 51
McAuley would lose his belt the following Summer in Spain, succumbing to former opponent Rodolfo Blanco.
