2012: In what was then a career-best, break-out, performance, Carl Frampton bullied recent World champion Steve Molitor and forced the Canadian into a sixth round stoppage defeat. ‘The Jackal’ was dominant throughout against Molitor, a late replacement for Kiko Martinez, and retained his Commonwealth super bantamweight title for the third and final time at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast.

1980: Enniskillen’s Gordon Ferris narrowly outpointed Tommy Kiely 118.5-117 to win the Irish and Northern Irish heavyweight titles at the Maysfield Leisure Centre in Belfast. The bout also doubled as a British title final eliminator, and Fermanagh’s Ferris would win the vacant title in his next bout against Billy Aird.
1980: On the undercard in Belfast, Fivemiletown’s Trevor Kerr stopped Mick Fellingham in the seventh round to claim the Northern Irish light heavyweight title.
1908: Champion Dan Grant retained his Irish middleweight title with a knockout win over home fighter Mick Creedon at City Hall in Cork. Tralee-born Grant brought a halt to the Munster derby in the fifth round.
