1994: Chris Eubank stopped Belfast’s Sam Storey in the seventh round to defend his WBO super middleweight title in Cardiff for a twelfth time. Storey put up a gallant effort but could not withstand the punching power of the Brighton man. Storey would rebound and reclaim the British 168lbs belt the following year.

1888: Future heavyweight World champion Peter Maher won the inaugural Irish middleweight title at the Rotunda Concert Hall in Dublin. The legendary Galway man knocked out John Seenan in the fifth round.
