Dubliner David Maguire had a quick return to the capital tonight with a win on the ‘Second Coming’ show at the National Stadium. The MGM cruiserweight, who made his debut at the South Circular Road venue, defeated Slovakia’s Jozef Kusmirek in front of the Boxnation cameras.
38 year old Maguire showed the fitness and energy of an 18 year old, as well as no little power to stop his Central European in the first round after he landed a massive right that floored Kusmirek.
The Slovak rose but was on wobbly legs and the bout was waved off, handing The Viking the victoru
With the impressive win, Maguire moves to 5(2)-0 while Kusmirek falls to 3(0)-15(8-9)-1.
