Date, Venue, and Opponent for Jason Quigley’s next fight
Jason Quigley [11(9)-0] will be given another good test of his abilities in his next outing.
The Donegal middleweight will appear prominently on the undercard of Bernard Hopkins’s final farewell against ‘The Irish Bomber’ Joe Smith Jr on Saturday December 17th at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
‘El Animal’ will take on Puerto Rican knockout artist Jorge Melendez [29(27)-7(4)-1], a fellow Golden Boy fighter, on the HBO-screened card on the US West Coast over ten rounds.
While ‘Destroyer’ Melendez has lost two on the bounce, he has scored some good wins over the likes of Milton Nunez and Marcus Willis, and is obviously a dangerous puncher.
So far in 2016, Quigley has fought twice, easily knocking out the overmatched Freddy Lopez in one back in March before going ten rounds in a huge step up against James De La Rosa (who boxes Curtis Stevens in his next contest) on the Canelo-Khan undercard in May. The Ballybofey star was due to appear on the Canelo-Smith undercard in September but was forced off with a minor wrist injury.
