Darren Mangan forced to quit boxing

Top Pro Gif Ad
Letterkenny’s Darren Mangan [1(0)-0] has sadly been forced to retire just two and a half weeks before his Irish debut.

The Mayo-born, Donegal-based, fighter has had to step away from the ring due to the discovery of an underlying heart defect.

As told to Chris McNulty of DonegalSportsHub, it is a “miracle” that Mangan’s high-intensity training did not cause serious harm, or even death, to the 22 year old.

Mangan was due to box on the Red Corner Promotions show at the National Stadium on November 5th, however his medical revealed the dangerously precarious condition and forced the John Breen-trained fighter to quit boxing.
