Conrad Cummings: It’s a ballsy move by Meli to face me
Conrad Cummings is ready to become a made man by winning a ‘make or break’ clash with Alfredo Meli on November 20th.
The Coalisland middleweight claims agreeing to the fight is a ballsy move by Meli, but believes that he will put those balls into a vice and squeeze
Speaking to irish-boxing.com ahead of the battle of the unbeaten Northern middleweights, Cummings mused that “it is a step up and it isn’t.”
“I have been fighting competitive guys.”
“I wouldn’t say I have been fighting journeymen – I beat Talarek who upset a few prospects and in my last fight I KO’d Oscar Riojas who won a regional belt at super middleweight.”
Describing his Belfast opponent, Cummings reasoned that “It will be an exciting ding-dong while it lasts.”
“Meli is a tough and strong fighter and he will come into the fight 11-0 and but there is no chance he is coming away with the win.”
Outlining the importance of their BBBoC Celtic title clash, Cummings noted that “there is a little more to this fight in terms of it being two Irish middleweights.”
“Hats off to him for taking the fight, its a ballsy move.”
“It is make or break for us both, but again I am in this game to be in big fights and the headline shows.”
On his thoughts of how the bout will unfold, the former WSB star explained that “I don’t make predictions. I am training for ten hard rounds and a hard fight – but in saying that I believe in my punching power and if I catch any middleweight clean they will know about it, not just Meli, any middleweight.”
