Cruise: I would love to fight Cummings for the Irish title

Darren Cruise is willing to provide opposition for Conrad Cummings if the Cyclone puncher wants an Irish title fight.

‘Dynamite’ said after his impressive El Paso stoppage victory last week that the Irish and Celtic middleweight titles were on his radar.

The comment’s sparked debate as to who would be a viable opponent at this stage of the prospects career and got Cruise thinking too.

The Rosscomon man is keen to challenge for the title and would like to take a scalp in the process.

Cruise, who lost a 10 round decision at the York Hall last Friday week at light heavyweight, contacted Irish-boxing.com to get the word out- he wants the middleweight domestic title and he is keen on a Cummings clash.

“I rate Conrad highly he was an exceptional amateur. I think a fight between myself and Conrad for the Irish middleweight title would be a great fight for the fans.

“I have been fighting at super middleweight of late, but I said all along I would make middleweight for big exciting fights and myself versus Conrad would be exactly that.

“I have just come of a 10 round points defeat to Tom Baker, but I learned so much from that fight. I proved too myself that I am at the same level as a lot of these prospects.”
