Cork City pay tribute to two local boxing heroes

Cork’s Eamer Coughlan and Tommy Hyde received a heroes reception at Turners Cross at last night’s FAI Cup replay between Cork City and Derry City.

Airtricity Premier League high-fliers Cork City officially presented both boxers to the crowd during the half-time interval.

Coughlan claimed silver at the recent AIBA World Junior Championships in St Petersburg, Russia and Hyde reached the quarter-finals at the tournament.

Limerick’s Paddy Donovan and Dublin’s Paul Ryan also secured silver and bronze in St Petersburg and the Irish squad finished in 7th spot in the rankings table at the 51-nation tournament.
