Conlan and Barnes back Quigley to be top pro

COMMONWEALTH hopefuls and Olympic medal winners have backed former Irish team mate Jason Quigley to be a success as a pro.

Middleweight, Quigley traveled to Los Angeles earlier this week as his July 12 debut approaches. The Golden Boy  fighter enters his first pro fight, a four rounder in the MGM Grand on the undercard of the massive Canelo Alvarez and Erislandy Lara clash with praise from his former High Performance team mates ringing in his ears.

The European gold medal winner and World silver medalist has what it takes to make it to the top claim the Belfast duo.

“He’s been under the radar in the last few months, but this is great for him and I’m so happy for him,” Conlan told the Donegal News.

“He has everything. He is totally adaptable to anything. If it’s pro style or amateur style he can do it. He can make himself suit it and there’s no reason he won’t be a success,” he added before Barnes had his say.

“I think he’ll do well. I hope he does well. He’s a brilliant boxer. I don’t see why he won’t make a go of it. He’s definitely got it in him…he’s superb.”
